These pictures were begun in February/March '98. Since then, apart from Soeharto's retirement, there have been further developments. In January '99 John Howard reversed twenty-four years of Australian foreign policy when he declared that East Timor did indeed have a right to self-determination. However ABRI, the Indonesian armed forces, divided and in many cases unrepentant, have armed paramilitaries who continue the genocide. Shades of Nicaragua, Columbia, El Salvador, Guatamala etc etc. The horrors the CIA instigated in '65 roll on into ever bloodier waters through Ambon, Aceh and West Papua.
